Rose of the Month-  February 2007

Dublin
In Joe Kolis' Rose Garden 2005

Photo- Dave Candler

Dublin is a medium red hybrid tea rose that very often has excellent show potential.  High pointed centers and turgid petals make a robust bloom.  The outer edges of petals characteristically tend to darken significantly.  The beginning of the process is normal, and judges will accept that as "normal for the variety", but as the darkening progresses it can become a detriment in only a few hours on the exhibition table, so the window of opportunity is narrow for exhibiting.

Some details:
Plant height 4-5 ft., blossom about 5" wide, blooms well all season, only a slight fragrance, but often poor disease resistance.  About 35-40 petals.

The rose has been in commerce since 1982, but is still readily available.  Well worth having in your garden.
